Frequently Asked Questions: FAQ's

What is the Global Citizen Corps?

The Global Citizen Corps is an international movement of young people who think and act globally, have the passion to build a better world, and are committed to ending global poverty.

What does the Global Citizen Corps do?

The Global Citizen Corps believes that Awareness + Action = Impact so we get informed about global poverty issues and learn how to take action. There are two ways to get involved:

Global Citizen Corps Members use www.globalcitizencorps.org to learn more about the issues of hunger, poverty, conflict, education and climate change, exchange ideas with your peers around the globe, learn from field workers and anti-poverty experts, discover new ways to take action, and ultimately build a powerful movement for change.

Global Citizen Corps Leaders join a year-long program that connects international youth leaders to organize Global Action Days and projects in their schools and communities around the issues of global health, hunger, concflict, climate change, and access to education.  Using Mercy Corps’ tools, training, and resources, Leaders carry out these Global Action Days to educate and inspire their peers and communities to build a better world.

How can I become a Global Citizen Corps Leader?

An online application is available each each year. This year the application will be launched February 1st. To learn more about the program check out the Leadership program section of the site.

Can I fight poverty even if I’m not a Global Citizen Corps Leader?

Of course! You can join the movement at www.globalcitizencorps.org to learn more about global poverty, find ways to take action, and connect with other students who share your passion.

What is the Annual Leadership Summit?

After a successful year organizing Global Action Days, U.S. Leaders can apply for the Annual Leadership Summit. Each summer, the Summit brings together some of the country’s most inspiring and motivated high school students for a week of training and action. At the Summit, students work closely with Mercy Corps staff and anti-poverty experts from around the world to gain the knowledge and skills to become more effective leaders in the fight against global poverty.

Can I use the Global Citizen Corps or Mercy Corps logo?

Mercy Corps will provide you with a variety of materials which you can use to support your work. While you are free to use these materials as is, you are not permitted to use the Mercy Corps or Global Citizen Corps logo on any new materials that you create.

I registered as a member and there was a message saying that I would be sent an email. I never received the email. What happened?

First, double-check that you gave us the correct email address. Make sure everything is spelled correctly and that there are no extra spaces, dashes, etc.

If you're still not getting the email, then it is likely that your email provider or program might be blocking the email from us, or marking it as spam. Check your spam or bulk mail folders and see if our email accidentally ended up there.
