Peace Boat
Originally founded to foster understanding and communication in light of Japan's military action in WWII, the Peace Boat now offers a number of programs designed to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment. Global trips last around three months and visit between 15 and 20 countries. This is a great opportunity to promote peaceful international relations and travel the world. Each year Japan selects delegations from different countries to share in this life-changing journey. There are also a number of volunteer positions available on the boat and in the ports of call.
Travel to Teach
This unique organization is meant to provide genuine experiences of other cultures to travelers while ensuring a valid work opportunity and providing education in some of the poorest areas in the world. Travel to Teach currently has programs in six countries and is one of the most accommodating and inexpensive organizations for international volunteering. Programs range any where from 3 weeks to 7 months or more depending on personal preference, with costs ranging from approximately $850 to $2000.
