Decreasing Water Sources in Khanaqin

Our city is an agricultural territory because it has many orchards and arable lands. Many people  in our city depend on agriculture to gain work and we have an ancient river that's called (Al- Wand). This river comes from Iran to irrigate all of lands in our city , the people used to get fish from this river. Since Iraq – Iran war in 1980 Iran was begin to decrease & cut the water on our city and  day by day Iran has made many huge dams on this river. It has been a big cause to decrease the water.  In winter season the water ratio is ordinary but in summer season the water will disappear and the river completely dry up. The water that came from Iran is just bad water and not useful. I asked my grandfather and my relatives about the river he said the water ratio was high and any thing was better but right now it's a worst.  The decreasing water is a very big reason that makes people leave their agriculture livlihoods, and in every day more green zones will be decreased  and wild zones will be increased and  the agricultural will disappear and fish fortune will disappear too.
