World AIDS Day
December 1st is world AIDS day. People all over the world will be coming together to take action against AIDS. Over 33 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS world wide. According to the world health organization HIV/AIDS claims the lives of 2 million people annually.
There is no cure for HIV/AIDS but there is the antiretroviral therapy (ART) commonly refereed to as the AIDS cocktail. This therapy reaches millions around the world, helping them to cope with their symptoms; however 5.5 million people still do not have access to it. With help from people around the world we can help the ART reach those 5.5 million people and raise awareness to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Something as small as telling a friend that tomorrow is world AIDS day can help or let your whole school or work know. Education is key to awareness.
