Indonesia: Food Security

In honor of Food Security, Global Action Month, The Global Citizen Corps from Indonesia participated in the decoration of a cooking center for My Child's Cafe program in Tegal Alur. My Child’s Café is one of the programs working with Mercy Corps in Indonesia. The aim for the program is to promote healthier foods for children. The program provides healthier snacks for children under five in poor communities. The cooking centre itself will be a playground for the children who will be benefiting from My Child’s Café. Our leaders helped to “decorate” the cooking center by painting a mural. The image is designed to help the children learn about nutrients and healthy eating. This project embodied the new concept of youth activism, not always a “serious " activity; youth activism can be fun and empowering.
