USA: Portland - Highshool Hunger Week
The Lincoln High School GCC in Portland, Oregon planned a World Hunger Day with many events focused on various international hunger issues. The GCC organized a "fact walk", where they lined the floor with statistics on world hunger. They also set up a hunger display consisting of a table with chairs representing various
countries. Each setting at the table was then given one cup of rice per every 1,000 calories the average person within the representative country eats. During lunch, a http://www.freerice.com competition was set up where participants could raise rice for the World Food Programme. There
was also individual fundraising for flood victims in Pakistan where GCC members collected donations in rice bags. Overall, Lincoln GCC raised $85, thousands of grams of rice, and a lot of awareness!
