Gaza: Gaza City - International Women's Day Action

On March 8th, 2011, for International Women's Day, iYouth members prepared a special visit to the sick children in Abd AlAziz Al Rantisy hospital for kids, a “Cancer Department”, and another visit to the Elderly Care Center in Al-Wafa Charity hospital in Gaza. There, they distributed gifts to celebrate International Women's Day with children, their mothers, and the old ladies.

A day before the action, girls came to the iYouth center to prepare the gifts for the children and the elderly women, and to prepare the activities for the action day.

On the action day, the girls first headed to Al Rantisi Hospital, where they started the activities with a drawing session with all the sick children in the hospital. After, some girls went to the cancer department to distribute gifts, play games, and sing songs with those children. Then, the girls headed to Al Wafa hospital, to continue the action day activities with the elderly women there. They talked with the old women about their life experiences and memories, and sang with them. Before the iYouth girls left, they gave each lady a small gift as a symbol of appreciation.

Finally, the girls went back to the center to evaluate the action and to exchange their stories. Overall, a total of 25 youth girls were engaged in the implementation of the action and  75 children, mothers, and elderly women were reached.
