Pakistan: Quetta - Preventing Cigarette Pollution

Pakistan: Quetta - Preventing Cigarette Pollution

I am pleased to share that a group of GCC youth and peer leaders celebrated Global Earth Day at the Ayoub Cricket Stadium in Quetta, Pakistan. We facilitated a dialogue between young people from a variety of places as a celebration of global earth day.

The objective of the dialogue was to swap views, ideas, and experiences about how to preserve the environment. Youth sketched their individual and group plans for future activities in their respective localities.

The youth from Quetta then met with the administration of the Ayoub Cricket Stadium to prohibit smoking in the stadium’s playing area. Discarded cigarettes damage the environment around them as they can take up to 10 years to decompose and the chemicals often soak into local waterways.

The action was greatly appreciated by the administration of the stadium and the elders.
