Gaza: iYouth and Global Hand-washing day

Hand-washing is a simple and ordinary behavior, but one with extraordinary results, especially for children. The World Health Organization estimates that 90% of the 18 million children who die every year are children under the age of 5. If hand-washing were better promoted, about half of these poor children could be saved. Regarding this special occasion, a great event was held on 15 October to celebrate the Global Hand-washing Day and highlight the importance of hand-washing at home, school, and the workplace. The event, which featured games and educational activities for children,
promoted correct hand-washing technique and attracted an estimated 400, primary students at Cairo Primary School in Gaza City. The event was organized by the health club in iYouth program from Adam Center for Dialogue of Civilizations.

"We are very happy that so many people in Gaza and around the world are celebrating global hand-washing day," said Anas, 7 years old.
That’s why (30) iYouth members tried to promote hygiene and hand-washing, which is also effective in reducing the risk of the outbreak of hand disease. The presentations focused on the correct hand-washing technique and why we should wash our hands, the members also washed their hands together with the students and finally they gave the cleanest classroom special gift to reward them for great efforts to keep their classroom always clean.
