Indonesia: Jakarta - FLASH MOB POSITIVE

The biggest flash mob in Indonesia was held on December 11th 2011 in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. The flash mob participants were partly made up of communities named kakigatel (Itchy feet) flooded around Monas (Monument Nasional, central Jakarta) since 4 o’clock in the morning. The sole objective of this event is to increase awareness about creating a  cleaner, more beautiful and more comfortable Jakarta. Thus is the theme of this event: “Positive Jakarta”, to spread a positive outlook to Jakarta citizen. This event was attended by approximately 4000 participants with 3600 people listed in the online registration.

Global Citizen Corps leaders took a part in flash mob “Positive Jakarta” action as team leaders where one team leader lead 200 people for each group. And we would like to give a big thanks to all team leaders for their contribution and to all GCC leaders who attended the event.

The flash mob took place at Indonesia National Monument and started from 04.00 am to 08.30 in the morning with thousands of people joined in. The dance was conducted 3 times and 1 additional times as requested by the participants so this flash mob not only  broke the Indonesia record of biggest flash mob but also the longest flash mob dance.
