Gaza: iYouth Teaches Traffic Safety Lessons To Students
Regarding the monthly theme on the blog which is Education in February, iYouth members decided to educate students in schools about traffic safety especially after many deadly accidents happened in Gaza and West Bank in the last few weeks. Every single student will learn about the traffic safety, and the traffic signs.
The implementation of this activity was on two parts, the first one is an awareness session from an expert Police Major in traffic safety, for iYouth members and some students. And the second part is a campaign on traffic safety implemented in a school.
On 29th Feb. 2012, and in the main hall of Adam Center, an awareness session about traffic safety was held by Ex-Police Major General Orabi Kalloub, an expert in traffic safety. Mr. Kalloub talked about the police and its importance in making our country a safe place; he also talked about the traffic safety rules, and importance of maintaining the traffic signs and abiding the laws by normal citizens and drivers. After Mr. Kalloub finished his session, iYouth leaders and members presented a material on traffic safety explaining the meanings of many traffic signs, and then made a video shows on many important rules, like walking on the Pedestrian corridor and looking on both sides before crossing the road. The students were very careful listening to the presentation.
The 2nd day of activities was implemented in “New Gaza” School, iYouth members went to the school to educate students about traffic safety rules depending on the information they learned in the previous session. In addition to that they’ve distributed a poster including most important traffic signs, in each class they visited.
Overall of 35 youth members were engaged in the action, and more than 700 Students were reached.
