National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2012

The 24th annual National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest is here! The contest runs from April 5 to June 28, with an entry fee of $15. For those procrastinators out there, we’ve extended the deadline until July 11 with an increase of $10 per entry. We are accepting digital entries online in any of these four categories: Travel Portraits; Outdoor Scenes; Sense of Place; and Spontaneous Moments. Enter today!

Prizes:

First Prize: One First Prize will be awarded. The First Prize consists of:
(1) a 10-day Galápagos Photography Expedition with National Geographic Expeditions for the winner and one (1) guest;
(2) the winning image will be featured in the December 2012/January 2013 edition of National Geographic Traveler;
(3) the winning image will be featured on the National Geographic Traveler photo contest website; and
(4) a one-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler magazine.

The First Prize Expedition will include meals, sightseeing, and other items as described in the catalog description of the Expedition, and travel must be completed by December 31, 2013. If First Prize winner is unavailable to travel on the specified dates, then the prize will be forfeited. Winner and his/her travel companion are responsible for getting themselves to/from the Expedition departure/end point at Guayaquil, Ecuador, at their own expense. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of the First Prize is US$11,000. Tips, taxes, personal expenses such as spa services, laundry or internet usage, and all other items not stated in the catalog description of the Expedition are the sole responsibility of the winner and travel companion. Winner agrees to accept the National Geographic Expeditions Terms and Conditions for the trip.

Second Prize: One Second Prize will be awarded. The Second Prize consists of:
(1) An intensive 2 1/2-day photo workshop at Santa Fe Workshops
(2) the winning image will be featured in the December 2012/January 2013 edition of National Geographic Traveler;
(3) the winning image will be featured on the National Geographic Traveler photo contest website; and
(4) a one-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler magazine.

Winner is responsible for getting him/herself to Santa Fe, NM, and for room and board, meals and living expenses at his/her own expense. Some restrictions apply. Prize must be redeemed by September 30, 2013. ARV of Second Prize is US$475.

Third Prize: One Third Prize will be awarded. The Third Prize consists of:
(1) Admission to a National Geographic Traveler Seminar of his/her choice ;
(2) the winning image will be featured in the December 2012/January 2013 edition of National Geographic Traveler;
(3) the winning image will be featured on the National Geographic Traveler photo contest website; and
(4) A US$200 gift certificate to B&H Photo.
(5) a one-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler magazine.

Winner is responsible for getting him/herself to the National Geographic Traveler Seminar, at his/her own expense. Some restrictions apply. Prize must be redeemed by December 31, 2013. ARV of Third Prize is US$400.

Merit prizes: Seven Merit Prizes will be awarded. Each Merit Prize consists of:
(1) A US$200 gift certificate to B&H Photo.
(2) the winning image will be featured in the December 2012/January 2013 edition of National Geographic Traveler;
(3) the winning image will be featured on the National Geographic Traveler photo contest website; and
(4) a one-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler magazine.
