Jordan: Amman - Food Security Campaign

On Sunday, 8th of July the Jordanian GCC leaders launched their long expected campaign on food security. In the previous weeks they worked intensive on creating their own awareness material. Aiming to reach as many people as possible no matter which sex, age group or social background they come from, GCC leaders designed their own stickers, magnets and brochures each with a clear message to promote food security.

In addition, they wrote an open letter to their schools which they delivered the day of the campaign to spread the word about food security and to reach their peers and teachers in school. Finally they went out to the neighborhood of Hashmi Shamali to distribute their giveaways and to convince people on the importance of taking action in food security matters. When they approached people they did not only have to deal with appreciation and interest in their work but also with rejection and a lack of interest in what they have to say.

Nevertheless they kept up their enthusiasm and good spirit and reached over 250 people directly by giving away the stickers and brochures. Besides, they reached a broader audience by creating their own radio spot that raised awareness about the most profitable use of food and was broadcasted by radio Farah al Nas in the afternoon the same day which can be listened to in entire Amman.
