US: Oregon City - Take Care of Each Other 2
After the success of last year’s, “Take Care of Each Other” campaign leaders from Oregon City revamped their idea to make it bigger and better for International Peace Day 2012. In addition to the peace signs and photos they also organized a Peace Match bringing people from across the community together inviting them to set aside their differences and have fun with one another.
When asked specifically about their Peace Day campaign GCC leader Nikki had this to say, "this year on International Peace Day my friend Katie and I used artivism to celebrate the day with peers from our school. We used our same idea from last year and made it bigger. We made signs that said "take care of each other" and took pictures of our peers, teachers, and school administrators holding those signs around our school. It was a fun and easy way to tell people that it was International Peace Day! We also held a peace match and it was a huge success! We had about 18 people turn out and we played for two hours. Everyone had so much fun and now we am in the middle of planning our Food Security Action Campaign!”
