Installation of Curtains in Female Surgical Ward, Saidu Teaching Hospital Swat.

Swat Pakistan: College of Youth Activism and Development (CYAAD) in its Project Global Citizen Corps has funded  three community service project, wherein one has been completed which is “Installation of Curtains in Female Surgical Wards, Central Hospital Saidu Sharif Swat”.
The main aim of the project was to provide safe and harassment free environment to female of the Pukhtoon populated Swat and adjacent Districts and to ensure the accessibility of Pakhtoon women observing Purda and to encourage male members of the family to bring their females to the hospitals for the treatment.
A total of 20 beds in the Female Surgical Ward were covered with curtains from three sides each. 100 meter of pipes was installed and the cloth for curtains is around 300Running feet. The three sides of beds were covered while one side has already been covered by adjacent wall. The people highly appreciated the project and women’s specially thanked the youth leaders and the staff members to provide them safe corner in the public place.
The project has also opened a new way for the NGOs working in the health sector to allocate funds in this area. Our endeavors are successful and three INGOs are collecting quotations to install curtains in the remaining wards of the hospital, which was one of the main objectives of the Community Support Project (CSP) which was achieved.
