Pakistan, Swat: GCC Youth Leaders Training on Video Production

The importance of electronic media is visible from the quote ‘Seeing is believing’. Visual media is playing vital role in shaping people’s perception, to convey messages and to know about what is going on in the world. Youth of Pakistan needs to enhance their skills and capacities in film making and video production to contribute to socio-economic development of Pakistan. For this purpose GCC CYAAD—Pk Swat chapter has conducted four days beginner training on video production with GCC youth leaders from 28th to 25th January, 2012 to improve their skills and give them a chance to with the modern technology. 23 GCC core leaders participated in the training where they were trained in pre-production, production and post-production in film making. All the youth leaders has taken keen interest in the video production and produced 3 short documentaries in groups on ‘Water Pollution in Swat’, ‘Youth Issues in Swat’ and ‘Female Education in Swat’.

The details of the training procedure are given below; Jan 25, 2012(Day 1) TECHNICAL TRAINING Getting Started/ Basic Filmmaking Concepts, Camera Angles, Movement and Composition. SCREENING: observational style documentary, In class: Use of tripod to frame different shots * Screen camera assignment with feedback Jan 26, 2012(Day 2) TECHNICAL TRAINING Sound Basics and Recording Techniques, Story/Script/story arc, Basic editing concepts/software, DISCUSSION OF DOCUMENTARY, PROJECT IDEAS, Using different mics to record sound. Record wild sound and room tone. Jan 27, 2012(Day 3) DIRECTING/ SHOOTING BEGINS In the field, In class: discussion of perspective, In class: structural analysis Jan 28, 2012(Day 4) EDITING and FINAL PRODUCT
