Pakistan, Swat: Community Service Project: Desiltation of Marshy Stream in Mazeedkheil Manglore Swat
Eagle Group of GCC Youth Leaders has completed its Community Service Project ‘Desiltation of Marshy Stream in Mohalla Mazid Khiel of Village Manglor Swat’. The project was basically drainage oriented. The community used to deposit their waste directly into this stream. With the passage of time the stream fell with mud, clay, plastic bags etc. In numerous locations this stream was damaged. So the water comes out from the stream and flowing on street causing unhygienic environment and diseases. This polluted and stinking water created lots of problems in the community. Eagle group is living in the same street and planned to desiltate the stream and provide and healthy and hygienic environment to the community. It was also struggle to sensitize the community members to keep their area clean. One of the main reason behind the water blockage was that water was flowing inside the houses or makets covered by the community and was not easy to desiltate it.
Youth launched the project as Community Service Project in Global Citizen Corps Youth Leadership Program and successfully accomplished it. The community appreciated the efforts of youth for their community.
Total cost on the project was Rs. 51,678/-, wherein CYAAD GCC’s contribution was Rs. 34000/- while community contributed Rs. 17,678/-.
