whats HIV/AIDS

Dere's picture

the difinition for AIDS ( acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).),
HIV can transmit through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as bloodsemenvaginal fluidpreseminal fluid, and breast milk. This transmission can involve analvaginal or oral sexblood transfusion, contaminated hypodermic needles, exchange between mother and baby during pregnancychildbirthbreastfeeding or other exposure to one of the above bodily fluids.
the symptoms of AIDS are primarily the result of conditions that do not normally develop in individuals with healthy immune systems. Most of these conditions are infections caused by bacteriavirusesfungi and parasites .....Opportunistic infections are common in people with AIDS. These infections affect nearly every organ system.
people with AIDS mostly have
1-fevers
2- sweats (particularly at night)
3-swollen glands
4-chills
5-weakness
6-weight loss
7-pulmonary infection (Pneumocystis pneumonia)(Tuberculosis (TB)
8-GIT infection(Esophagitis is an inflammation of the lining of the lower end of the esophagus)( chronic diarrhea)
9-neurological and psychological involvement
10-tumor and malignancy
prevention and treatment
The three main transmission routes of HIV are sexual contact- from mother to fetus - or child during perinatal period. It is possible to find HIV in the saliva ,tears and urine of infected individuals, but there are no recorded cases of infection by these secretions. Anti-retroviral treatment of infected patients also significantly reduces their ability to transmit HIV to others, by reducing the amount of virus in their bodily fluids to undetectable levels.
and there is currently no publicly available vaccine for HIV or cure for HIV or AIDS. The only known methods of prevention are based on avoiding exposure to the virus or, failing that, an antiretroviral treatment directly after a highly significant exposure, called post-exposure prophylaxis has a very demanding four week schedule of dosage. It also has very unpleasant side effects including diarrheamalaise, nausea and fatigue.
