News Brief: High Malnutrition Rates in Chad

Hey GCC, here is an update on hunger in Chad from Reuters AlertNet.
High Malnutrition Rates Uncovered in Chad, 2/18/10.  Action Against Hunger announced today that a nutrition survey conducted in Bahr el Ghazal, a vast semi-arid region of western Chad, reveals global acute malnutrition rates well above the emergency threshold designated by the World Health Organisation. In response, the international humanitarian organization has launched an intervention in support of the 17,000 children at risk of life-threatening malnutrition. The intervention has been directly supported and funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
