SWAT Pakistan; Construction of Public Latrine in Maglawar Swat
A Group of GCC Youth Leaders with the name of Peace Maker has completed its Community Service Project ‘Public Latrine in Mohalla Syad Abad of Village Manglor Swat’. The project was based on the need of the community. It is the area which was greatly affected during conflict and flood crises. 70 % of the population related to agriculture and the main source of income are livestock and agricultural products. Due to poverty about 50 % populations have no latrine facility and used to open defecation. This is environmentally and hygienically not sound. So GCC youth leaders did a survey of the area and analyze the need of community and started work with collaboration of their community. The land for the facility was donated by the community and facilitated the youth till completion of the project. This facility wills Provides safe and hygienic access to the basic need in the locality. Environmentally this project has a great impact. The community highly appreciated the efforts of youth to create a sense of ownership.
Total cost on the project was Rs. 46725/-, wherein CYAAD GCC’s contribution was Rs. 34000/- while community contributed Rs. 14250/-.
