Training

Each year, Mercy Corps trains 1,000's of Global Citizen Corps Leaders to get the skills that they need to mobilize their peers, schools and communities around global issues such as education, conflict, climate change, global health and food security.

The program provides both in person training through summits and workshops as well as online training through podcasts, blogs, live webinars and video conferences.

These trainings include:

  • Skill development in action planning, fundraising, creating advocacy campaigns, messaging and digital storytelling
  • In depth learning about the root causes of poverty, hunger, climate change, conflict and access to education
  • Engagement in cross-cultural dialogue with participants from Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Pakistan and the United States
  • Participation in a series of video exhanges and conferences

Summits and Workshops

Global Citizen Corps Leaders have the chance to attend leadership summits in the United States, Indonesia and Scotland as well as workshops in Gaza, Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan and Lebanon. These workshops give Leaders the opportunity to meet like-minded students from around the world, interact with experts in the field, and develop their skills to help end poverty.

Online Training

All Global Citizen Corps leaders are supported during the year through online trainings. These trainings can be through webinars, podcasts and online conferences. Leaders who do not attend an in person workshop or summit are able to receive their training through a series of multi-media lessons throughout the year . These modules will help prepare students to lead informed and effective action projects.
