What is the cord that links us together, far across oceans and man-made walls?

What is the bond that goes on forever, as ancient as time and as waterfalls?

What is the thing that goes on existing long after all are laid to rest?

A power so strong it goes on subsisting and blooms like a flower for worse or for best?

It is the tie that binds us, although we're so far apart.

The string that serves to intertwine us and links us heart to heart.

A perfect bond of union that causes us to be

Apart of one another, though we span from sea to sea.

It dwells within my heart, just as it does in yours, 

And though some try to oppress it, it can withstand the all the wars.

Able to change nations through the heart of a single being,

Far transcends color and goes past what the eyes are seeing.

And though I may never get to walk across exotic terrain

I can smile at a person without having to know their name.

And I probably will never get to learn every language in existence,

But I have hands and legs that work and can provide assistance.

And perhaps if I do all these things I can affect the lives

Of every person from their hearts and make them satisfied.

Then maybe the love I gave to them they will share with one another.

Passing it along as a gift worth giving to each other.
