My place, The world

My Place, The World

By: Myles K.

The poem was written in Iambic Pentameter, so I included a version below
where the stresses are shown with all capital letters. It's written in Quatrains.
AAAA, BBBB, CCCC, then repeating back to A and so on.

My place is the world, my neighbor's mankind.
Look out at our problems. We can't be blind.
This is a new age, we can't be confined.
We become open, and our minds unwind.
It's me. I am a global citizen.
I know the world's customs and religion.
New York to Paris, Athens to Berlin,
No place exists, my reach isn't within.
Not recreation, we have obligation,
just tune in to the news radio station.
Poverty and debt, still in our nation
The whole world needs reconfiguration.
It's up to us as citizens combined.
This is our planet, we are all entwined.
We have to work at it, focus with mind.
Get some acts signed, our frameworks re-alligned.
First, ignorance is where we will begin.
There's something between us, we are akin.
We're all related, deep under the skin.
The Earth does much more than sit there and spin.
No matter the location, we're one nation.
We share same problems with unification,
we share the same triumphs with celebration,
All through internationalization.
We, not I. We are global citizens.
