About

Global Citizen Corps members

You’ve heard it before – our generation is unmotivated and self-involved.

You know it’s not true.

We are motivated. We are smart and passionate. And we are standing up to create a better world.

We know that one out of every six people lives on less than a dollar a day, and that millions do not have enough food, clean water, or basic healthcare. We know that around the world, poverty forces young people to work instead of going to school. We know that it’s time for our generation to stand up and lead the fight for a better world.

Joining Global Citizen Corps

Now is our chance to band together through the Global Citizen Corps, a movement of youth who think and act globally, have the passion to build a better world, and are committed to ending global poverty.

After joining, members can:

  • learn more about global poverty and how it links to other global issues
  • exchange ideas and resources with other youth around the country
  • talk with anti-poverty experts
  • find new ways to take action
  • build a powerful movement for change

Leadership Program

The year-long Global Citizen Corps Leadership program works with 200 high school students who spread the word about root causes of global poverty to their peers and communities, mobilize them to make a difference, and embrace a life of global citizenship to build a better world.

Over one year, leaders will work with Mercy Corps to get the training, knowledge, resources and tools to raise awareness and organize effective actions to empower people who live in poverty. Leaders will mobilize their schools and communities around a series of Global Action Days, which connect to international poverty-fighting campaigns. Activities around Global Action Days raise awareness and promote meaningful actions because awareness + action = impact.

With this training, leaders will have the knowledge to organize powerful actions that address the problems at the heart of poverty like HIV/AIDS, hunger, climate change, and lack of access to education.
